Intuitive Eating is Making Connections
One of the things we like most about our work is sharing the lightbulb moments with our clients. It’s watching the realization come over people’s faces when they make connections! Intuitive eating is all about self-connection.
Why is self-connection so important?
Well, if we aren’t aware of why we have certain behaviours or habits, there is no way of creating meaningful change. And, if we don’t recognize how our past experiences influence us in the present, there is no way of mapping a new direction. An example of this may be skipping breakfast, and struggling with primal hunger by supper time.
Intuitive eating can help with this process by allowing us to acknowledge and connect all of the feelings and past experiences that impact our relationship with food-why we feel the way we do about food. Some of the principles of intuitive eating focus on connecting with the physical sensations that arise within our body, while others focus on removing obstacles which may interfere with that connection.
Our role is to support our clients in discovering those connections, understand them, and learn to trust them.
You have all of the innate wisdom within.
